Higher Education & Careers
Having successfully completed GCSEs and armed with good results, the Sixth Form is an exciting time for girls to plan a bright and challenging future. The majority of our leavers proceed to one of the top universities in the UK, while a number will choose to study at prestigious universities in the USA, Canada or East Asia. There is a great deal of specialised support for students applying to Oxford and Cambridge, as well as for those applying for Law and Medicine and for those applying to Art and Drama colleges.
Our Universities programme begins in Year 10 but from early in the Lower Sixth our excellent Careers Department offers one-to-one support and guidance as students prepare for university and the world of work. In addition to the annual Careers Fair, Universities Fair and US Universities Evening, the school hosts a very wide range of speakers from business, industry and the world of higher education. Our students are involved in, and often shape their own, research projects in conjunction with universities in this country and abroad and we have an impressive record of innovation, having our own e-journal and both a staff and a student lecture series. All our students take part in a number of workshops, which cover topics from the UCAS process to personal statements, and a great deal of time is devoted to interview practice as well. It is no surprise that our Upper Sixth students end up with many offers from the top universities in this country and abroad by the time they leave the School.
